Tax Notes Quotes Carolyn Schenck on IRS Criminal Tax Chief Remaining in His Post
The current IRS Criminal Investigation division chief and acting deputy chief will both remain in their positions for at least part of 2026, according to an email from CI Chief Guy Ficco.
The December 11 email, viewed by Tax Notes, was sent to CI employees as well as IRS CEO Frank Bisignano, Treasury Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy Kenneth Kies, and acting IRS Chief Tax Compliance Officer Jarod Koopman.

Schenck, the former IRS national fraud counsel now with Caplin & Drysdale, told Tax Notes she was relieved that Ficco would remain CI chief. “After working with him for so many years, I’ve seen firsthand the integrity, steadiness, and genuine care he brings to his decisions and his steps,” she said.
