Christopher Rizek Comments on IRS Nominees
Over the past few years, Congress has curbed IRS enforcement funding to make the agency focus more on customer service. President Trump's nominees for Internal Revenue Service commissioner and chief counsel – Charles Rettig and Michael Desmond, respectively – each have tax controversy expertise in IRS leadership which could make a major difference.
"I would expect them to do a better job in prioritizing enforcement resources," said Christopher Rizek of Caplin & Drysdale and a former Treasury official.
