Caplin & Drysdale Welcomes Nir Fishbien
Mr. Fishbien’s practice centers around advising foreign and domestic individuals and companies, funds and financial institutions on a range of complex tax matters, including:
- domestic and cross-border taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions, credit financing arrangements, restructurings and reorganizations;
- partnership, LLC, and investment agreements;
- transfer pricing, sourcing of income and expense, and determining U.S. effectively connected income; and
- families and individuals in connection with structuring their worldwide investments
In the summer of 2016, he was an International Tax Intern with the firm. During Mr. Fishbien’s time at the University of Michigan Law School, he earned a doctorate degree focusing on U.S. International Tax Law. He received three fellowships and spent time in Japan, Germany and Israel doing tax research. Mr. Fishbien also attended the prestigious 2016 International and European Tax Moot Court competition where his team won Best Team Brief for the Taxpayer.
While at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Mr. Fishbien won the Dean’s Award and Harry Simons Award in addition to receiving the Tevie H. Miller Scholarship. He also served on the Editorial Board for the Mishpatim Law Review. After University, Mr. Fishbien served as an Economist for the Banking & Financing Department in the Israel Ministry of Finance for three years.
