Dianne Mehany Receives the ABA's Nolan Fellowship

February 2, 2015, American Bar Association

WASHINGTON, D.C.: February 2, 2015 - Caplin & Drysdale is pleased to announce that the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation has named Dianne C. Mehany a recipient of the esteemed Nolan Fellowship for 2015-2016. The award honors a select group of outstanding young tax lawyers from across the nation who have shown significant contribution, service, and leadership.  Ms. Mehany is the fourth Caplin & Drysdale attorney to receive this distinction, following Zhanna A. Ziering in 2013, Rachel L. Partain in 2012, and Niles A. Elber in 2009.
Beth Shapiro Kaufman, President of Caplin & Drysdale, remarked "Dianne's selection for the Nolan Fellowship comes as no surprise.  Dianne already has a reputation in the Tax Section as a valued colleague and strong contributor to continuing legal education.  She exemplifies the firm's core values of excellence, scholarship, and contribution to the legal community.  We are proud of Dianne's achievement and congratulate her on this well-earned accomplishment."  Ms. Mehany added, "I am grateful to the ABA for this important recognition, and look forward to playing a key role in the ABA's Section of Taxation."
Dianne C. Mehany is a Member of the International Tax, Private Client, and Tax Controversies practice groups.  Her practice focuses on counseling corporate and high-net-worth taxpayers on international tax planning and tax controversies, including inbound and outbound tax planning, foreign tax credits, tax treaties, tax audits, and FATCA planning and compliance. Her experience encompasses tax compliance of individuals, companies, and financial institutions in the cross-border context, such as FATCA reporting, reporting of interests in foreign trusts, and offshore financial accounts and assets.  Ms. Mehany's practice also covers income and succession planning for wealthy individuals and families, including foreign trusts, pre-immigration planning, and expatriations.  Moreover, she has extensive experience advising individual and corporate clients in federal, civil, and criminal tax controversy matters.
