Beth Kaufman Named Accredited Estate Planner® (Distinguished) Nominee by NAEPC

November 28, 2018, National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC)

Caplin & Drysdale‘s Beth Shapiro Kaufman was named an “Accredited Estate Planner® (Distinguished) Nominee” (AEP) by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC). She will join the Class of 2019 as they are inducted into the Estate Planning Hall of Fame® on November 7, 2019.

Awarded annually, this honor recognizes practitioners with significant and outstanding lifetime achievements and contributions to the practice and profession of estate planning. Commenting on this accomplishment, Ms. Kaufman said “I am truly honored by this recognition. And fortunately height is not a requirement for the Estate Planning Hall of Fame!” Ms. Kaufman is among a select group of estate planning professionals who meet special requirements of education, experience, knowledge, professional reputation, and character and receive this honor.

Ms. Kaufman started her career with Caplin & Drysdale in 1985, but left the firm in 1995 to perform government service. She rejoined Caplin & Drysdale's Private Client Group in 2001 after working for over six years in the Treasury Department's Office of Tax Policy. Serving first as Attorney Advisor and then as Associate Tax Legislative Counsel, Ms. Kaufman had principal responsibility for all tax policy matters affecting trusts and estates, including estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes, as well as income taxation of trusts and estates. She has continued her focus in these areas in private practice. In addition to maintaining an active practice, Ms. Kaufman teaches generation-skipping transfer tax at the University of Miami and is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
