Sean Kahng joined Caplin & Drysdale as Of Counsel in 2011. He counsels corporate and individual clients on domestic and cross-border tax planning matters. Drawing on his fluency in Korean language and culture, Mr. Kahng skillfully advises Korean business and private clients.

Services

In the corporate arena, Mr. Kahng assists multinational corporations in an array of tax-related matters, including those involving tax treaties, advance pricing agreement, subpart F, and foreign tax credit. He represents foreign companies making direct investments in the United States and provides guidance on various forms of in-bound investment.

Mr. Kahng also assists high-net-worth individuals and their families in structuring tax-efficient, cross-border investments; expatriation planning; and succession planning. For clients with foreign financial accounts, Mr. Kahng helps them comply with the FBAR requirements.

Government Experience

Prior to joining Caplin, Mr. Kahng worked for 12 years in the National Office of the IRS, Office of Chief Counsel. He has extensive experience in the taxation of various pass-through entities, especially the taxation of S corporations and partnerships.
