Caplin & Drysdale typically hires three to five summer associates per year. We permit summer associates to split their summers but we ordinarily require that a summer associate work for a minimum of six weeks.
Each summer associate is assigned an associate mentor and a partner mentor. Although there is no formal method for assigning work, we endeavor to provide assignments that meet the interests of each summer associate and offer a realistic view of our legal practice. Compensation for summer associates is competitive with other Washington, D.C. firms.
Caplin & Drysdale sponsors a number of social events for summer associates, ranging from lunches with lawyers to theater outings to parties in partners’ homes.
Caplin & Drysdale is a founding participant of Buildable Hours, a program in which law firms contribute funds and their time to Habitat for Humanity. The Habitat "build" is during the summer, and offers an excellent community service opportunity to our summer associates. For more information, visit www.buildablehours.com.
