Nathan D. Finch is a member in Caplin & Drysdale's Washington, D.C. office. He specializes in complex civil litigation and trial work and is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.
Since joining the firm in 1993, Mr. Finch has represented individuals, companies and creditors’ committees involved in a broad range of disputes including personal injury and products liability litigation, fraudulent transfer litigation, securities and financial fraud litigation (both the representation of plaintiffs and the defense of clients involved in securities enforcement proceedings), bankruptcy and creditors’ rights litigation, insurance coverage litigation, copyright and intellectual property litigation, false advertising litigation, mass tort litigation, and contractual disputes between business executives and their current or former employers. Mr. Finch has tried cases in state or federal court in eight states plus the District of Columbia involving matters ranging from single-plaintiff products liability actions to complex commercial disputes with billions of dollars at stake. He has successfully tried seven cases to conclusion where more than $100 million was in dispute.
Mr. Finch speaks to various organizations on litigation matters. Most recently he spoke at the Plaintiffs Asbestos Litigation Seminar in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on asbestos bankruptcy issues and the Mealey's Asbestos Bankruptcy Conference in New York.
Mr. Finch received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Virginia Law Review, the Order of the Coif, and the varsity track and cross country teams. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as various federal courts around the country.
