Laura Damerville is an associate in Caplin & Drysdale's Washington, D.C. office. She joined the firm in 2011.

Ms. Damerville provides comprehensive legal advice to tax-exempt organizations. She regularly advises private foundations and public charities, including educational institutions, hospitals, and religious organizations, on a variety of legal matters including qualification for tax-exempt status, corporate governance, compliance with charitable solicitation laws, executive compensation, endowment management and grantmaking.
Highlights
Prior to joining Caplin & Drysdale, Ms. Damerville practiced in the tax and benefits department of an international law firm, where she advised large for-profit and tax-exempt organizations on a variety of tax and employee benefits issues. Before entering the legal profession, she worked at two large non-profit organizations in London.
Professional Activities
Ms. Damerville serves as Vice-Chair of the Non-Profit Organizations Committee of the New York County Lawyers' Association and spearheaded the committee's report on revising the New York Not-for-Profit Corporation Law. She has also been appointed to the New York City Bar Association's Committee on Non-Profit Organizations for 2011-2014.
