Julie W. Davis is Of Counsel in Caplin & Drysdale's Washington, D.C. office. Ms. Davis has a wide range of federal tax experience. Within the exempt organizations practice group, she concentrates on tax controversies with the IRS and on matters that relate to exempt health care providers, estate planning, and charitable giving. Her planning and litigation expertise extends to estate and gift tax issues, intergenerational transfers via trusts and family limited partnerships, asset protection trusts, U.S. tax issues for U.S. citizens living abroad and foreign persons with U.S. assets, and valuations for federal tax purposes. Ms. Davis also works with the civil litigation group representing asbestos claimants in mass tort bankruptcies and class actions.
Ms. Davis has numerous professional accomplishments. She is the former Chair of the Tax Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association's Litigation Section, and of the Tax and Business Committee of the Women's Bar Association for the District of Columbia. She also has been an adjunct professor in the graduate tax program at Georgetown University Law Center since 1993, as well as a lecturer at the University of Virginia Law School and George Washington University Law School. In addition, Ms. Davis has written and lectured on various aspects of exempt organization issues, including international charitable giving.
